1. Eligibility: 3,000 individuals at high risk of HIV infection, Individuals enrolled in South Korea's National Health Insurance
(1) Men who have sex with men (MSM) or transgender women
(2) Individuals with HIV-positive partner
(3) Individuals with high-risk occupations (e.g., sex workers or workers in alcohol-serving entertainment establishments)
※ There is no limit on the number of times support can be provided; however, the program may end early if the budget is exhausted.
※ Undocumented foreigners are not eligible.
2. Program Locations: Seoul, Busan (based on the applicant's registered address)
※ Program period and locations may be expanded in the future
3. Program Period: November 1, 2024 – December 27, 2024
4. Support Provided
(1) Full coverage for HIV tests (antigen/antibody tests)
(2) Full coverage for pre-prescription testing for PrEP
- You may still need to pay for doctor visits, follow-up visits, additional tests, and part of the cost of PrEP medication
(3) Coverage for the cost of PrEP medication:
- If covered by insurance: Insurance covers 70% of the cost, and this program covers 50% of the remaining cost (equivalent to 15% of the total cost)
※ Insurance coverage applies if your partner is HIV-positive
- If not covered by insurance: This program covers 85% of the cost
5. How to apply for the assistance program
(1) After purchasing PrEP, you can visit the public health center in your area of residence to apply for the support
(2) To apply for the support, you need to hand in required documents in person or by registered mail by yourself
- All documents must be submitted within the program period
